Renewable Energy Certificates
For large and small scale renewable energy projects and products, such as wind, solar farms, hydro-electric schemes and electricity generation devices, are entitled to create large and small scale generation certificates. These are tradable certificates issued within their respective schemes under Renewable Energy Targets (RET).

MainStreet's REC Opportunities
These certificates serve as a verifiable testament to the generation of electricity from renewable sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power. Each REC represents a specific amount of electricity—typically one megawatt-hour (MWh)—that has been generated and delivered to the national grid from these green sources.
Small Scale Tradable Certificates (STCs)
STCs can be sold through the open market or STC clearing house. LGCs can be sold on the secondary market or directly to liable entities through power purchase agreements. Once LGCs and STCs are paid for, they can be transferred through the Renewable Energy Certificate Registry (REC Registry) in Australia or other exchanges world-wide.

Assessment & STC $Cost
STC clearing houses or exchanges are a facility in local Registries to support system owners, registered agents and liable entities to buy and sell STCs at the current fixed price of USD$26.50 (AUD$40) per certificate, exclusive of tax. MSR is moving to partner with a Singapore based exchange for this purpose.

Small Scale Renewable Energy?
The most exploited source of renewable energy on a small scale is solar energy, both through household solar panels and portable solar chargers. Alongside solar energy, there is wind energy, harnessed through wind turbines. Our device works in with both solar and wind generation.

Classification of a small-scale system is based on the system’s capacity or how much energy the system displaces. Systems with higher capacity may be classified as power stations. MSR has has to add to and adapt its electricity generator to comply with STC requirements.

Domestic Power
One of the biggest problems that solar energy technology poses is that energy is only generated while the sun is shining. That means nighttime and overcast days can interrupt the supply. The main concern most people have is that the supply chain is almost entirely in the hands of one country (China).
Solar energy is only possible with polysilicon, which most nations cannot access directly. MSR’s solution will provide additional reliability.

Fluctuating solar and wind power require lots of energy storage, and lithium-ion batteries seem like the obvious choice—but they are far too expensive to play a major role. Improper installation of battery energy storage systems can create fire hazards.
